Genetic Algorithm-based Hybrid Methods for a Flexible Single-operation Serial-batch Scheduling Problem with Mold Constraints

چکیده
Scheduling in a manufacturing system is currently a research hotspot. This paper proposes a flexible, single-operation, serial-batch scheduling problem with mold constraints that arise from injection molding production. In such a scheduling problem, three decision problems exist: product batch splitting, sequencing, and resource selection. A divide-and-conquer framework is introduced to solve the three decision problems. A hybrid algorithm combining the genetic algorithm for sequencing with the heuristic algorithm for resource selection is developed. We design an experimental case to which the corresponding simulation scheduling process is applied. We present a detailed analysis of the simulation results, which indicate that the solution framework and the hybrid algorithm are effective. Copyright © 2013 IFSA.

A Two-Stage Hybrid Flowshop Scheduling Problem with Serial Batching
In this paper the problem of serial batch scheduling in a two-stage hybrid flow shop environment with minimizing Makesapn is studied. In serial batching it is assumed that jobs in a batch are processed serially, and their completion time is defined to be equal to the finishing time of the last job in the batch. The analysis and implementation of the prohibited transference of jobs among the mac...
متن کاملMinimizing the Number of Tardy Jobs in the Single Machine Scheduling Problem under Bimodal Flexible and Periodic Availability Constraints
In single machine scheduling problems with availability constraints, machines are not available for one or more periods of time. In this paper, we consider a single machine scheduling problem with flexible and periodic availability constraints. In this problem, the maximum continuous working time for each machine increases in a stepwise manner with two different values allowed. Also, the durati...
متن کاملA HYBRID GENETIC ALGORITHM FOR A BI-OBJECTIVE SCHEDULING PROBLEM IN A FLEXIBLE MANUFACTURING CELL
This paper considers a bi-objective scheduling problem in a flexible manufacturing cell (FMC) which minimizes the maximum completion time (i.e., makespan) and maximum tardiness simultaneously. A new mathematical model is considered to reflect all aspect of the manufacturing cell. This type of scheduling problem is known to be NP-hard. To cope with the complexity of such a hard problem, a genet...
متن کاملA novel mathematical model for a hybrid flow shop scheduling problem under buffer and resource limitations-A case study
Scheduling problems play a big role in manufacturing and planning the production for increasing the production efficiency and assigning the resources to operations. Furthermore, in many manufacturing systems there is a physical space between stages that called intermediate buffers. In this study, a model is proposed for minimizing the makespan of a hybrid flow shop scheduling problem with inter...
متن کاملA Basic Period Approach for Solving the Economic Lot and Delivery Scheduling in Flexible Flow Lines
In this paper, the problem of lot sizing, scheduling and delivery of several items in a two-stage supply chain over a finite planning horizon is studied. Single supplier via a flexible flow line production system (FFL), produces several items and delivers them directly to an assembly facility. Based on basic period (BP) strategy, a new mixed zero-one nonlinear programming model has been develop...
